It’s springtime in the Old Pueblo (and everywhere else!), all warm and green and fresh. It’s time to freshen your home too, by airing it out and shedding some old and useless junk. Here is my short-list of Spring Cleaning tips!

Clean and Repair: Add one little task each day to your usual cleaning routine until you’ve wiped and dusted it all, even if it’s one cabinet, one drawer and one shelf at a time. Be sure to change your vent filter and clean out your dryer duct. Prioritize home repair projects and tick them off until they’re done.

Fridge and Pantry: Chuck the junk from the fridge and pantry. Read the date and trash accordingly. Get creative with recipes to use up those leftover spices and condiments.

Meds and Makeup: Old medicines and first aid supplies can be safely disposed of at most Walgreens locations. Even make-up gets bacteria and other yuckiness over time, so toss it too.

Clothes and Clutter: As you push the cold weather clothes to the back of the closet and bring the summer stuff up to the front, purge and donate the worn-out and un-worn. Take a fresh look at built up clutter in every room and boldly edit the mess.

Bedding and Linens: Flip the mattress, replace old pillows and wash comforters before you store them away. See what’s hiding under the bed and give it a good vacuuming.

Now what? Donate to a cause you love so your quality cast-offs can make a difference.

Like losing that extra winter belly fat, dumping the accumulated clutter will make you and your home feel lighter too.
