Valentine’s Day is fun but it doesn’t have to be just about couples and romance and hearts and roses. There really are a lot of ways to share the love. Oh, wait – Any day is a good day to share the love and here are some ideas how! I shared all this and more on the Tucson Morning Blend (click to watch).

  • It’s really just a perfect day to acknowledge and appreciate whoever crosses your path; valentine’s cards or kisses for everyone.
  • Take grandma to lunch, especially connect with folks who are missing someone special.
  • Instead of flowers & chocolate, get creative; call a babysitter and recreate a great date; get him a hands-free phone headset so he can be safe behind the wheel, or some other gift that says, “I love you and want you to be safe.”
  • Have a Parks & Rec Galentine’s Day girls’ night out.
  • Are you on your own by choice or default? Treat yourself with a spa day or a little “me time.
  • If you DO plan to stay home and sulk, I have the perfect drinks coming up…
Games for groups. Actually, these are all designed around getting to know each other a little better any time. Sure you can use these among friends, couples or not. But they can be adapted to other events, like networking or company retreats.
  • Ice Breaker: Write an interesting tid bit about yourself or your relationship (“we met in a grocery store”), put the paper in a bowl, then pull them one by one and the group guesses who it is.
  • Truth or Treachery: Tell a story (true or not) (“I hitchhiked to Alaska”), then the group votes on whether or not they believe it. The most surprising – or devious – wins.
  • Whaddya Know: Played like the old Newlyweds TV game show. Make a list of questions about relationship that each person answers separately. Couples then take turns guessing how their mates answered them. Very illuminating! Winners get couples massage & losers also do because they clearly need it.
